Start of Skills Test (TECO)

Start of Skills Test (TECO)

Project aimed at measuring the transversal (TECO-T) and disciplinary (TECO-T) skills of university students, with the aim of improving the quality of the educational process.

TECO is part of the European reference framework for quality in higher education and supports a student-centered and learning-outcomes-based approach, in full compliance with international standards and guidelines.

The project consists of two complementary components:

TECO-T (Transversal), aimed at assessing general skills for all courses of study (reading comprehension, logical-quantitative reasoning, problem solving, citizenship, and critical thinking).

TECO-D (Disciplinary), aimed at measuring the specific skills of professional/disciplinary profiles, built on national frameworks aligned with European learning outcome descriptors.

The assessments will take place from October 15 to December 19, 2025, remotely on the CINECA platform with participant recognition and management of dedicated virtual classrooms.

Participation by universities, degree programs, and students is voluntary. Sapienza has been participating in the project since 2017 as an assessment tool to support quality assurance (QA) processes and the continuous improvement of educational offerings.
