For the 2025/2026 academic year, the University of Rome “La Sapienza” is once again promoting its second level master's degree in Railway Infrastructure and Systems Engineering, organized in collaboration with leading companies in the railway sector: Almaviva, Alstom Ferroviaria, BPS Deployment, Ferrotramviaria, Generale Costruzioni Ferroviarie, IDOM, Italo - Nuovo Trasporto Viaggiatori, Salcef, Siemens Mobility, Technital, and Trenolab.
This will be the 21st edition of the master's program and the first international edition, taught entirely in English, with lectures given by university professors and company representatives from various European countries.
The Master's program aims to provide multidisciplinary training in the transport and mobility sector, integrating engineering, economic, and legal aspects useful for planning, designing, operating, and maintaining railway systems.
The effectiveness of the approach of strong integration with the companies that support the Master's program is evidenced by the consistently high level of interest in this training program and the results in terms of job opportunities offered to students (of the 20 editions completed so far, more than 500 Master's graduates have been placed in the companies that support it, for a placement rate of over 91%).
The master's program is intended for graduates with a second-level degree in Engineering, in the degree classes listed in the Call for Applications. Master's degree students who will graduate by March 31, 2026, may also apply for admission.
Selection for admission to the master's program will be based on an evaluation of the candidates' qualifications and an entrance exam to assess their technical and linguistic (English) knowledge and aptitude. A maximum of 35 students will be admitted to the master's program.
The registration fee is €3,000.
Partner companies will offer scholarships of €3,000 gross to the first 10 candidates admitted to the master's program who attend at least 75% of the teaching hours.
The master's program requires a full-time commitment for 7 months, from February to June 2026 for lectures, group work, and educational visits, and from July to September for the internship in the company; while the final exam, with discussion of the project developed during the internship period, is scheduled for October 2026.
