Special Issue:
“Shaping the Future of Statistical Sciences”
The Metron Journal will publish a Special Issue associated with the Joint Meeting SIS-FENStatS 2026, comprising the 53rd Scientific Meeting of the Italian Statistical Society (SIS) and the 1st Conference of the Federation of European National Statistical Societies (FENStatS), held in Rome, Italy, from 22 to 25 June 2026 (SIS-FENStatS 2026).
This Special Issue aims to collect high-quality contributions presenting recent advances and review articles in statistical methodology, computational statistics, data science, and innovative real-world applications. The issue welcomes both theoretical and applied papers addressing contemporary challenges in statistics and related fields.

Machine Learning and Statistical Learning
Classification, Clustering and Data Analysis

Functional and Longitudinal Data Analysis
Authors and participants of SIS-FENStatS 2026 are invited to submit original research papers, methodological contributions, review articles, and innovative applications related to the topics of the Special Issue.
The Special Issue is also open to all researchers working in the above areas, regardless of their participation in the conference.
All manuscripts submitted to this Special Issue will undergo the journal’s standard double-blind peer-review process.
Authors should submit their manuscripts through the METRON online submission system, selecting “SIS-FENStatS 2026” from the “Select Article Type” menu, and following the journal’s submission guidelines available at METRON Submission Guidelines
Important dates:
December 31, 2026 – Deadline for paper submission
March 31, 2027 – First decision and reviewers’ comments
June 30, 2027 – Deadline for revised manuscripts
October 31, 2027 – Tentative publication of the Special Issue
